A key meeting, chaired by the commissioner at the Commissioner’s Office, brought together Deputy Commissioners and officials from relevant departments to finalize preparedness measures. During the session, authorities decided to establish dedicated heatstroke centers in every district to ensure timely response in case of emergencies.
These camps are equipped with essential facilities including immediate medical aid, oral rehydration salts (ORS), shaded resting areas, wet towels, and first aid services. Authorities confirmed that hospitals across the city will also implement special arrangements to handle heatstroke cases efficiently.
Major healthcare facilities such as Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and Civil Hospital Karachi will have dedicated units for heatstroke treatment. The administration has also decided that all heatstroke centers will remain exempt from load shedding to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Commissioner Naqvi has directed all Deputy Commissioners to take proactive measures to safeguard citizens. He also urged K-Electric to ensure continuous electricity supply to these critical facilities.
Officials expressed confidence that coordinated efforts among departments and hospitals will help minimize risks and effectively manage any emergency situation during the heatwave period. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.
