Islamabad, December 31, 2024 – Karachi, Pakistan’s largest metropolis and port city, is bracing for colder weather this week as the winter school vacations come to an end. Many schools across Karachi are set to reopen on January 1, 2025, coinciding with a dip in temperatures expected in the coming days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi is likely to see its temperatures drop further, with nighttime lows predicted to hover between 8°C and 10°C over the next three days. The chilly weather comes as a shallow westerly wave is expected to impact the western and northern parts of the country starting from this evening.

Karachi, known for its typically mild winters, has been experiencing cooler-than-usual nights, prompting residents to bundle up. The PMD attributes the cold spell in Karachi to the prevailing continental air across most parts of the country.
