Karachi to roast under blazing sun as heatwave grips city for days

Hot and Dry Weather

Karachi, May 29, 2025 – The port city of Karachi is bracing for a brutal onslaught of unrelenting heat, as a ferocious blazing sun takes full command of the skies for the next three days.

Weather forecasters are sounding the alarm: temperatures will soar to dangerous highs, and the risk of heat-related illness is climbing with every passing hour.

According to AccuWeather, Karachi will face punishing daytime highs of up to 42°C, while the RealFeel® temperature—how hot it actually feels on your skin—will climb even higher, reaching up to 44°C. From Thursday through Saturday, residents of Karachi will be at the mercy of a merciless sun, with hazy skies offering little to no relief from the searing heat.

On Thursday, the heat is already palpable with a high of 38°C, but don’t be fooled—RealFeel® temps hover around 44°C. Despite breezy winds sweeping in from the southwest at 15 km/h, the air remains stifling and unforgiving. The UV index is classified as “extreme,” making direct exposure to the blazing sun especially hazardous.

By Friday, the city will be in the grip of even more intense heat. The temperature is expected to spike to 42°C, as powerful winds blow in from the west at 26 km/h. The humidity will remain low, but so will the chances of respite. The UV index will hit a staggering 13, pushing skin burn risks into the danger zone. Karachi residents are being urged to take shelter during peak daylight hours and stay hydrated.

Saturday brings no mercy either. With highs of 40°C and RealFeel® temperatures of 41°C, the blazing sun will continue to dominate the horizon. Health officials are warning against prolonged outdoor exposure, particularly for the old-age, children, and those with underlying health conditions.

And as if that weren’t enough, Sunday promises more of the same. A cruel 42°C is forecasted once again, with relentless sunshine, hazy skies, and rising health risks.

For the people of Karachi, the next several days under this blazing sun will feel like walking through fire. Stay indoors, stay cool, and prepare for the city’s skies to become a furnace.
