Residents of Karachi can expect a spell of showers as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail across the city starting late Sunday night and continuing into Monday.
According to the latest weather advisory, a westerly wave is expected to enter Balochistan on Sunday, influencing weather conditions across southern and central regions. Under this system, several districts in Sindh are likely to experience varying intensities of rainfall, including light to moderate showers accompanied by strong winds.
The PMD report predicts that wind-thunderstorm activity, along with moderate to heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms, may affect districts such as Sukkur, Kashmore, and Ghotki on Monday. In addition, areas including Jamshoro, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, and surrounding regions are also expected to receive rain.
For Karachi and its surrounding divisions, light to moderate showers are likely, which could bring temporary relief from dry and warm conditions. However, the weather department has cautioned that strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms may pose risks to infrastructure.
The PMD warned that weak structures such as electric poles, billboards, and solar panels could be damaged during the storm activity. There is also a possibility of damage to standing crops in rural areas, raising concerns for farmers ahead of the agricultural season.
Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures and adjust their crop management practices according to the forecasted weather conditions to minimize potential losses.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during thunderstorms, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and stay updated with official weather alerts. With changing weather patterns, the upcoming days may bring further fluctuations, making it important for residents to stay informed and prepared.
