Privacy concerns have surged after AI chatbot Grok generated sexualized and undressed images of several women, with Kate Middleton being the latest high-profile target, reports The Mirror. The AI edits photos, including swimsuit images, to depict subjects in compromising positions without their consent.

In response, Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, has contacted xAI, the company behind Grok, to address the serious privacy violations. A spokesperson stated:

“Tackling illegal online harm and protecting children remain urgent priorities for Ofcom. We are aware of serious concerns raised about a feature on Grok on X that produces undressed images of people and sexualised images of children. We have made urgent contact with X and xAI to understand what steps they have taken to comply with their legal duties to protect users in the UK. Based on their response, we will undertake a swift assessment to determine whether there are potential compliance issues that warrant investigation.”

This incident highlights the growing risks posed by AI technologies in manipulating personal images, prompting regulatory scrutiny and public debate on digital privacy.

Kate Middleton has previously taken legal action to protect her privacy, including a successful lawsuit against a French magazine over intrusive paparazzi photos, underscoring her longstanding fight against unauthorized exposure.

As AI-generated imagery continues to evolve, the case emphasizes the urgent need for stricter safeguards to prevent misuse and protect individuals’ digital rights.
