Kate Middleton on Tuesday visited Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Football Club (RLFC) as part of her official royal engagements in Northern England. Kensington Palace shared details of the visit along with several photographs showing the Princess of Wales meeting players and engaging with members of the club.
The Prince and Princess of Wales also shared a message from Kate on their official social media account, highlighting the focus of her visit. An Instagram post described how Wakefield Trinity’s community programmes are helping bring generations together by supporting older people through the “In Touch” initiative and inspiring young people to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
As Patron of the Rugby Football League, the Princess of Wales said it was a pleasure to see firsthand how rugby league is creating opportunities for people to thrive both on and off the pitch. She praised the club’s efforts in strengthening community connections and promoting inclusion through sport.
Kate Middleton, who was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, is currently making a gradual return to royal duties after completing a course of preventive chemotherapy. During her visit, she appeared healthy and in high spirits as she interacted warmly with players and staff.
Earlier in the day, the future queen visited Family Action’s Children’s Trauma Therapy Service in Bradford. There, she met young people and emphasized the healing power of creativity, community, and nature for individuals who have experienced trauma, isolation, and mental health challenges.
Kate was expected to carry out additional engagements in Northern England before concluding her visit.
