The 47-year-old reality star visited a local hair salon on Thursday to debut a fresh look, trading her signature sleek black locks for voluminous curls. Sharing the results on Instagram, Katie posed alongside celebrity hair colourist Dominic Ackah-Amihere, who captioned his post: “CUSTOM PIECE FOR WELLA. P.S. we had 3 minutes to throw this on and conceal 26 inches of hair.”
However, moments after reposting the image to her 2.7 million Instagram followers, the star faced criticism from fans who took issue with her noticeably darker skin tone, reportedly the result of a heavy fake tan.
One user commented, “Turning herself into a woman of colour now? What’s next?” while another wrote, “What in the blackface is going on here?” Others chimed in with similar remarks, accusing the model of cultural insensitivity.
