Pop superstar Katy Perry has revealed a unique Christmas ritual she’ll be continuing this year, one that could bring cheer to her famous neighbors, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The 40-year-old singer recently charmed her British fans during ITV’s Night of a Lifetime concert special, which aired on December 21. Known for her powerhouse performances, Perry delivered her iconic hits, including Firework, I Kissed A Girl, and Teenage Dream. Amid the festivities, she shared her whimsical holiday tradition that spreads joy in her Montecito, California neighborhood.
Perry disclosed that on Christmas Eve, she loves nothing more than dressing up as The Grinch and singing carols for her neighbors—a list that includes British royals Harry and Meghan.
“We’ll be at home doing something we do every year,” Perry said. “We rent a trolley, dress up, and visit all the neighbors’ houses in my hometown. I dress as The Grinch—I got the costume off Amazon—and we go carolling. I don’t know if anyone will recognize it’s me, but we have a blast.”
She added that the experience is made even cozier with hot cocoa: “Sometimes, we’ll enjoy some hot chocolate. It’s just super fun, and I can’t wait to do it again.”
Before her enchanting performance, Perry expressed her enthusiasm about performing in London. “I am SO chuffed to transform Central Hall Westminster for this very cool and cozy evening for my UK fans,” she said. “London is one of my favorite places in the world, and I can’t wait for this up-close-and-personal dance party of a lifetime.”
However, this joyous season follows a challenging year for Perry. Her latest album, 143, faced harsh criticism, failing to top charts globally and receiving mixed reviews from music critics.
Despite setbacks, Perry’s festive cheer and love for community traditions continue to win hearts, proving her enduring appeal as an entertainer and holiday spirit enthusiast.
