The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has called upon the government to implement stricter measures in the battle against the coronavirus epidemic. Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan, President of KCCI, emphasized the need for enhanced efforts to combat the threat posed by COVID-19, urging both the government and the public to remain vigilant and proactive in containing the spread of the virus.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Khan acknowledged the government’s efforts, particularly those of the Sindh government, in addressing the pandemic. He highlighted the importance of taking additional measures to safeguard the entire nation from the life-threatening disease caused by COVID-19.

“While commendable steps have been taken, there is still much more that needs to be done,” Khan remarked. He stressed the importance of strict adherence to precautionary measures and guidelines outlined by the government and the World Health Organization (WHO) to mitigate the risk of transmission.

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Khan urged the nation to exercise caution, avoid social gatherings, and prioritize personal hygiene to protect themselves and their loved ones from the threat of COVID-19. He underscored the significance of collective responsibility in combatting the pandemic, urging unity and cooperation among all stakeholders.

Despite the relatively low number of confirmed cases in Pakistan, Khan cautioned against complacency and emphasized the importance of proactive measures to prevent further spread of the virus. He expressed confidence in the government’s efforts to contain the outbreak, calling for continued vigilance and cooperation from the public.

In light of the evolving situation, Khan recommended the establishment of additional isolation facilities across the country and enhanced monitoring of passengers arriving from abroad. He called for coordinated efforts between federal and provincial authorities, as well as other relevant agencies, to ensure the safety and well-being of the population.

Addressing concerns surrounding misinformation and rumors circulating on social media, Khan urged individuals to verify information from credible sources before sharing it. He emphasized the need for responsible behavior and cautioned against spreading false information that could fuel panic and fear among the public.

Khan reiterated KCCI’s commitment to supporting government initiatives and called for unity in the fight against COVID-19. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize public health and safety, underscoring the importance of collective action in overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic.
