KCCI requests date extension for electricity bill payment

The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has requested the management of K-Electric to extend the last date for payment of electricity bills in view of the recent Eid holidays.

KCCI President Mohammed Tariq Yousuf in a statement on Wednesday made the appeal to the CEO of KE, Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, citing the difficulties faced by businesses during the extended holidays.

According to Yousuf, many of KCCI’s members, as well as all seven industrial town associations, have been asking for an extension of the last date for payment of electricity bills. The bills were either due during the extended Eid holidays or immediately after Eid, making it challenging for businesses to make the payments on time.

The KCCI president has requested that KE issue necessary directives to extend the last date of electricity bill payment by ten days. This extension would provide businesses with additional time to return to normalcy after observing extended holidays. Yousuf also highlighted that another holiday on account of Labor Day was approaching, which would add to the challenges faced by businesses.

The KCCI president hopes that the CEO of KE would respond positively to their request, as it would enable members of the business community to pay their bills within the revised due date without any late payment surcharge. Yousuf emphasized that the extension of the payment deadline would be widely appreciated by the business community.

The KCCI’s request for an extension of the last date for payment of electricity bills is a reasonable one, given the challenges faced by businesses during the recent Eid holidays. It would provide much-needed relief to the business community and help them to return to normalcy after the holidays. We hope that the management of K-Electric would respond positively to the KCCI’s request and extend the payment deadline to ease the burden on businesses.
