The latest Sorento PHEV brings a larger battery and EV-only driving, while the hybrid offers a lower purchase price for everyday use.
KIA Pakistan has expanded its Sorento lineup with the introduction of the new Sorento PHEV AWD. The plug-in hybrid SUV joins the existing Sorento 1.6 Turbo Hybrid AWD, giving buyers two electrified AWD options with different powertrain configurations and equipment.
For buyers considering a Sorento for regular driving in Pakistan, the two variants offer several similarities but also important differences in pricing, performance and electric-driving capability.
Price Comparison
The KIA Sorento 1.6 Turbo Hybrid AWD carries an ex-factory price of Rs17,899,000, while the newly introduced Sorento PHEV AWD is priced at Rs18,999,000. This makes the plug-in hybrid Rs1,100,000 more expensive than the conventional hybrid AWD variant.
Sorento 1.6 Turbo Hybrid AWD
The Sorento 1.6 Turbo Hybrid AWD measures 4,815mm in length and uses a SmartStream G1.6T-GDI hybrid powertrain producing 238 hp and 367 Nm.
Its equipment includes Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes, a dial-type Shift-by-Wire system, color Head-Up Display, ventilated front seats and second-row USB chargers. Driver assistance features include Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Driver Steering Assist and multiple Autonomous Emergency Braking functions.
The variant also features a 14-way power driver’s seat with four-way lumbar support and cushion extension, along with Parking Collision Avoidance Assist-Reverse.
Sorento PHEV AWD
The Sorento PHEV AWD retains the same 4,815mm body length but uses a 1.6-liter turbo plug-in hybrid system that produces 249 hp and 367 Nm. It gets a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery and an EV-only driving mode.
The PHEV also comes with a 3.3 kW onboard charger, requiring around 3 hours and 25 minutes for a 15–95% charge. Its equipment includes active AWD with Lock Mode, a six-speed automatic transmission, 14-way driver’s seat, 10-way front passenger seat and integrated driver memory.
Additional features include third-row fan controls and vents, ventilated front seats and a 12-speaker BOSE premium sound system.
For daily driving, the hybrid offers a lower entry price, while the PHEV adds EV-only capability and additional equipment for buyers willing to pay the higher upfront cost.
