Kim Kardashian may be considering a bold move regarding her children amid ongoing tensions with ex-husband Kanye West. The Skims founder has reportedly grown frustrated with the rapper’s prolonged absence in parenting and is exploring the possibility of removing his last name from their kids.
According to a source cited by National Enquirer, Kim is weighing legally changing her children’s surnames to Kardashian, effectively cutting the final tie to the Grammy-winning artist. The insider added, “Kim’s now saying she may as well legally go for full custody. She sees no reason why she wouldn’t get it.”
The reality star and aspiring lawyer recently spoke about Kanye’s absence during a Call Her Daddy podcast appearance, revealing, “It’s probably been a couple months since we’ve heard from Kanye.” This candid admission highlights the growing strain in their co-parenting arrangement, despite previously agreeing to joint physical and legal custody.
Kim’s frustration with Kanye was also evident on The Kardashians, where she emotionally recounted how her ex-husband—without naming him—questioned her account of the 2016 Paris armed robbery. She shared, “Even my ex-husband had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show,’ and had said that in front of all these people. That was a knife to my heart.”
Reflecting on the incident, Kim added, “Just to think that someone wouldn’t believe you—that’s so close to you, that should know you, that should know how much that affected your life—it just really bothered me. You don’t know who I am.”
Kim and Kanye, who married in 2014, faced multiple controversies during their relationship. In 2021, Kim filed for divorce, and the split was finalized in 2022. Now, with Kanye’s parenting involvement reportedly minimal, the reality star appears ready to take decisive steps to secure full custody and protect her family’s interests.
