Kim Kardashian’s ongoing legal journey has gained renewed attention as her longtime mentor revealed details about the reality star’s struggles, dedication, and recent setback after failing the California Bar Exam.
The 45-year-old media personality has spent six years studying law, aiming to transition from Hollywood fame to a full-time career as an attorney.
Instead of attending a traditional law school, Kim opted for California’s Law Office Study Program — an alternative pathway that allows aspiring lawyers to train under practicing attorneys. The program requires four years of supervised study, demanding exceptional discipline, structure, and self-motivation. Kim’s late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., famously served on O.J. Simpson’s defense team, inspiring her long-standing interest in the legal field.
Jessica Jackson, Kim’s mentor since 2018, shared that despite the absence of formal classes or professors, Kim consistently adhered to her self-designed study schedule. Jackson praised her unwavering commitment, noting that Kim built her own roadmap and followed it diligently.
After learning she did not pass the bar exam, the SKIMS founder opened up publicly, sharing emotional posts about the disappointment and physical struggles she faced, including back pain from long study sessions. She described the setback as “fuel,” vowing to continue until she becomes a licensed attorney.
Jackson said Kim’s honesty reflects her true character, highlighting that her transparency about failure may encourage others facing similar challenges. Despite the recent hurdle, Kim has already passed two major milestones: the “baby bar” after three attempts and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in March.
