King Charles Defends Camilla’s Retreat, Snubs Sussexes

King Charles III has once again demonstrated his unwavering loyalty to Queen Camilla by spending over $3 million to acquire an old mill adjacent to her private country retreat, Raymill House.

This strategic purchase aims to protect her privacy and prevent the property from being converted into a wedding venue, which reportedly caused Camilla “great anxiety.”

According to the Daily Mail, Queen Camilla was deeply troubled by the idea of strangers celebrating just beyond her garden walls. “A proposal to sell The Old Mill next door and turn it into a wedding venue has caused her great anxiety. Think of it—dozens of wedding guests carousing every weekend just the other side of her fence,” an insider revealed.

Another close friend of Queen Camilla added, “There was an imperative to act for Camilla’s protection and privacy because a potential buyer sought to maximize commercial use of the property as a short-term holiday rental and wedding venue.”

King Charles’ purchase ensures that Camilla’s sanctuary remains undisturbed, with a security-vetted tenant moving in to prevent any “inappropriate use” of the property. This decisive move underscores King Charles’ dedication to safeguarding his wife’s peace and security, even at significant financial expense.

However, this investment also raises questions about King Charles’ priorities regarding other family members, particularly Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. While he spares no cost to shield Queen Camilla from minor disturbances, he has shown little effort to mend fences with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage, King Charles has not provided an alternative residence for Harry and Meghan in Britain, despite reports that they wish to maintain family ties.

A royal insider noted, “The new arrangement is a pragmatic solution, being both a sound financial investment and a way of maintaining Her Majesty’s privacy, protection, and continued enjoyment of her much-loved home, without any public funds being used.”

As King Charles spends millions ensuring Queen Camilla’s comfort, critics argue that his own grandchildren remain effectively barred from maintaining a close relationship with him in the UK. A royal expert observed, “The King is making it clear that some family ties are worth protecting—while others are left to fray.”
