Heartstopper star Kit Connor is reportedly in talks to join Marvel’s X-Men reboot as Cyclops.
Marvel Studios is reportedly moving ahead with casting for its highly anticipated X-Men reboot, with Heartstopper star Kit Connor emerging as the frontrunner to play Cyclops alongside Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey.
According to Variety, Connor is in negotiations to portray the iconic mutant leader in Marvel’s upcoming standalone X-Men film, although a deal has not yet been finalized.

The reported casting comes as Marvel prepares for a soft reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following Avengers: Secret Wars, with the X-Men expected to play a central role in the franchise’s next phase.
If the negotiations are successful, Connor will star opposite Sadie Sink, whose long-rumoured role as Jean Grey was finally confirmed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The report also states that Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost, further expanding Marvel’s mutant lineup.
Meanwhile, Jake Schreier, who previously directed Thunderbolts, has been attached to helm Marvel Studios’ first standalone X-Men movie.
Kevin Feige reacts to Spider-Man’s box office triumph
As excitement builds around Marvel’s future, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its impressive run at the global box office, surpassing expectations and breaking several records.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admitted that he never expected the film to eclipse the opening weekend performance of Avengers: Endgame, particularly after the challenges cinemas faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I didn’t — for all the reasons I don’t think anyone did, because of COVID, because of the beating that theatre took for so long,” Feige told Variety.
He added that blockbuster records have continually evolved throughout Marvel’s history.
“The first movie to ever cross $100 million over opening weekend was Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. The first to cross $150 million was Spider-Man 3. The first to reach $200 million was the first Avengers, and the first to $300 million was Endgame,” he explained.
Feige said he remained optimistic that the industry could recover but admitted recent years had made such milestones seem unlikely.
“That’s a long-winded way of saying I did not expect Endgame’s record to be beat, but I couldn’t be happier that it was beat this past weekend by our 38th MCU movie,” he said.
With Marvel expanding its mutant universe and Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivering record-breaking numbers, the studio appears poised for another major chapter in the MCU.
