Islamabad, November 18, 2025 – Pakistan’s textile sector posted a steady recovery in the first four months of fiscal year 2025-26 (July–October), with overall textile exports increasing by nearly 4% year-on-year, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The sector recorded total exports of $6.39 billion, up from $6.15 billion in the same period of FY2024-25.

Knitwear and readymade garments remained the top-performing categories, collectively leading export growth for the period. Knitwear exports rose 8.23%, reaching $1.90 billion compared to $1.76 billion a year earlier. Readymade garments followed closely with a 5.11% increase, climbing to $1.43 billion from $1.36 billion last year. Both categories continue to benefit from improved global demand and enhanced manufacturing capabilities within Pakistan’s value-added textile segment.

Bedwear maintained its position as the third-largest contributor, posting $1.14 billion in exports, an increase of 6.94% from $1.07 billion in the corresponding months of the previous fiscal year.

Several other textile categories also supported the sector’s overall growth. Cotton yarn exports increased by 7.74%, rising to $238.92 million, while raw cotton exports surged from zero last year to $2.60 million this year. Exports of yarn other than cotton grew by 7.50%, and made-up articles (excluding towels and bedwear) saw a 4.17% increase to $274.75 million. Tents, canvas, and tarpaulin products recorded a notable 32.34% jump to $53.47 million.

However, the sector also faced setbacks in certain categories. Cotton cloth exports fell by 12.75% to $592.79 million, while towel exports dipped marginally by 0.29%. Silk, synthetic, and art textiles also saw a small decline of 0.98%, slipping to $130.33 million.

On a year-on-year basis, textile exports in October 2025 posted a slight decrease of 0.57%, standing at $1.616 billion compared to $1.625 billion in October 2024. Despite this dip, month-on-month data shows a positive trend, with textile exports rising 2.78% from $1.57 billion recorded in September 2025.

Pakistan’s textile sector—one of the country’s largest export earners—continues to show resilience amid global economic challenges, supported mainly by the performance of value-added textile categories and gradual improvement in international market conditions.
