Authorities in Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera order the closure of public and private educational institutions, while examinations scheduled for Monday are cancelled in two districts.
PESHAWAR: Educational institutions in three districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will remain closed on Monday after authorities in Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera announced closures amid the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in the province.
The federal government imposed emergency and governor’s rule in KP after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following approval by the federal cabinet.
In Swabi, the district education officer and deputy commissioner ordered the closure of all public and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, citing the prevailing circumstances.

Meanwhile, Nowshera Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman issued directives ordering educational institutions across the district to remain closed.
Officials and heads of educational institutions in all three districts have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the closure orders.
The announcements mean students in Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera will not attend classes on Monday, while candidates scheduled to sit examinations in Mardan and Nowshera will be affected by the cancellations.
