The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has achieved remarkable progress in tax collection, amassing Rs 24.2 billion during the first six months (July – December) of the fiscal year 2024-25. This represents an impressive 45% growth compared to the Rs 16.7 billion collected in the same period last year, showcasing an increase of Rs 7.5 billion in revenue.
Detailed statistics shared by KPRA’s media wing reveal that Rs 18.15 billion was collected from the sales tax on services, while Rs 6.07 billion came from the Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC). In comparison, the previous year’s collections stood at Rs 14.6 billion for sales tax on services and Rs 2.1 billion for IDC. These figures reflect a 24% growth in sales tax on services and a staggering 189% surge in IDC collections.
Director General KPRA, Fouzia Iqbal, attributed this success to the unwavering dedication and hard work of the KPRA team. She commended their efforts, which have significantly bolstered the Authority’s performance over the past six months.
“With the same level of commitment and our strategic approach, I am confident that we will surpass this year’s target. By the end of June, KPRA will once again stand out as a beacon of excellence in performance,” she remarked.
Expressing optimism for the remainder of the fiscal year, she emphasized that sustained efforts would not only meet but likely exceed the annual revenue target. Additionally, she extended gratitude to taxpayers for their trust and cooperation, which she identified as pivotal to KPRA’s achievements.
Director General Fouzia Iqbal also acknowledged the crucial role of provincial leadership. She praised Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur and Advisor to the CM on Finance, Muzzammil Aslam, for their support and guidance. According to her, their leadership has been instrumental in enabling KPRA to implement effective strategies and achieve its goals.
The impressive growth in tax collection underscores KPRA’s commitment to enhancing revenue generation and strengthening fiscal discipline within the province. With the momentum gained in the first half of FY25, KPRA is poised to set new benchmarks in tax administration and revenue collection, contributing significantly to the economic development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
