Lady Gaga Teases New Details on ‘Joker’ Sequel

Lady Gaga has offered fans a glimpse into the much-anticipated sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, in which she stars as Harleen Lee Quinzel.

Gaga, known for her versatile talents in music and acting, praised the film’s director, Todd Phillips, for his bold vision and creativity.

In a recent interview, Lady Gaga expressed her admiration for Phillips’ approach to the sequel. “Todd took a very big swing with this whole concept and with the script, giving the sequel to Joker this audacity and complexity,” she said. Gaga’s words hint at a film that pushes boundaries and challenges traditional storytelling.

The singer and actress also provided insights into the multifaceted nature of the movie. “There’s music, there’s dance, it’s a drama, it’s also a courtroom drama, it’s a comedy, it’s happy, it’s sad,” Gaga revealed.

This diverse blend of genres suggests that Joker: Folie à Deux will be a cinematic experience unlike any other, defying expectations and delivering something truly unique.

Lady Gaga went on to discuss the musical elements of the film, which appear to play a significant role in its narrative. “Some of the music is fantasy, some of it’s in the scene.

It breaks genre,” she explained. However, she made it clear that the musical performances in the movie are intentionally rough around the edges, contrasting with the polished productions of her music career.

“We asked ourselves what would need to be true for two people to just break into song in the middle of a conversation?” Lady Gaga reflected.

She further elaborated on how the music in the film serves as an internal score for the characters, particularly for Arthur (played by Joaquin Phoenix) and her own character, Lee. “Neither Arthur nor my character Lee are professional singers, and they shouldn’t sound like they are,” she added.

Lady Gaga emphasized the personal connection that people have with music, describing it as a score for our inner emotional lives. “That’s what we tried to capture for Arthur and Lee. The music inside them,” she said, offering a glimpse into the emotional depth the film aims to explore.

Fans can look forward to experiencing this innovative sequel when Joker: Folie à Deux hits theaters on October 4, 2024.
