Taylor Swift has set a new milestone by breaking a 35-year-old record at London’s Wembley Stadium, surpassing the late music legend Michael Jackson.
On August 20, Swift performed the eighth show of her highly successful Eras Tour at the iconic venue, shattering Jackson’s previous record of seven performances during his Bad Tour in 1988.
Expressing her excitement, the 34-year-old pop sensation addressed the audience, saying, “You just made me the first solo artist to ever play Wembley eight times in a single tour.” Swift, who is known for her deep connection with her fans, added, “We will never, ever be able to thank you enough for it.”
The record-breaking concert was made even more special with surprise guest appearances. Jack Antonoff, lead vocalist of Bleachers and a frequent collaborator with Swift, joined her on stage, along with British singer Florence Welch. Together, Swift and Welch performed their song “Florida!!!” live for the first time, delighting the crowd.
Reflecting on the significance of the evening, Swift shared her gratitude for the friendships and creative partnerships she has formed over the years. “I think a lot about why I’m lucky enough to get to do a show like the Eras Tour, and it’s because I’ve been fortunate enough to find friendships that have been incredibly collaborative and creative forces,” she said while introducing Antonoff. She went on to describe their joint performances as some of her favorite collaborations.
Swift’s performance at Wembley marked the conclusion of the European leg of her tour. With this historic achievement behind her, she is now preparing to return to the United States, where the next phase of the Eras Tour will kick off on October 18 in Miami.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has been a monumental success, further cementing her status as one of the most influential and beloved artists in the music industry. Fans eagerly await the next chapter of the tour as Swift continues to make history with every performance.
