Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, October 21, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that smog will continue to affect Lahore and several other cities in Punjab over the next two days, due to ongoing dry conditions and rising air pollution levels.

Provincial Forecast

According to the PMD, dry weather is expected to prevail across most districts of Punjab on Tuesday (October 21). However, smog is likely to persist in Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. In upper Punjab, partly cloudy and cold weather is forecast for Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding hilly areas during the night hours.

On Wednesday (October 22), similar conditions are expected to continue with dry weather across the province. The PMD noted that smog is likely to maintain its presence in the same affected districts, while Murree and Galiyat may experience partly cloudy and chilly mornings and nights.

National Weather Outlook

At the national level, a continental air mass continues to dominate most regions of Pakistan, while a shallow westerly trough remains over the northern areas. The PMD stated that:

• On Tuesday, most parts of the country will experience dry weather, turning cold in hilly regions at night. Light rain or drizzle is possible in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

• On Wednesday, similar dry and cool conditions will persist, with isolated light rain expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Public Advisory

The PMD has advised citizens, particularly in eastern Punjab, to take precautionary measures such as wearing masks and limiting outdoor exposure, as persistent smog and air pollution may affect visibility and health.
