Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to reunite on screen in a chilling new ghost story directed by Martin Scorsese.

The duo, who previously starred together in the satire Don’t Look Up, have signed on for What Happens at Night, an adaptation of Peter Cameron’s acclaimed novel. The story follows an American couple who travel to a remote, snowy town in Europe to adopt a baby, hoping it will rescue their troubled marriage.

After checking into a grand but unsettling hotel, the wife becomes ill from the exhausting journey. Her worsening condition leaves her husband fearful that their dream of adoption could collapse. Meanwhile, the strange townspeople and their shadowy intentions deepen the suspense, making the story more unsettling with every turn.

Scorsese was first attached as a producer but chose to step into the director’s chair after completing Killers of the Flower Moon. His involvement has elevated the project into one of Apple’s most anticipated upcoming releases.

Cameron’s 2021 novel received widespread praise. The Spectator named it one of the best books of the year, while the Wall Street Journal celebrated how it reimagined the Victorian ghost story with cinematic flourishes reminiscent of Wes Anderson and David Lynch. Author Edmund White even hailed it as a masterpiece.

Although the release date is yet to be announced, excitement is already building. DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another is earning glowing reviews, while Lawrence’s Die, My Love is generating buzz ahead of its November premiere.
