Islamabad, February 19, 2026 – Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, on Thursday directed all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric, to process net metering applications submitted up to February 8 under the previous regulations.

The directive aims to protect applicants who filed before the deadline from being impacted by new regulatory changes. In total, 5,165 applications have been submitted across all distribution companies, representing a combined capacity of 250.822 megawatts, which will be added to the national grid once approved.

Under the minister’s instructions, all distribution companies must provide net metering facilities to these applicants immediately, ensuring a smooth and transparent implementation process. This decision has removed uncertainties surrounding pending applications and reassures consumers about the continuity of their requests.

Minister Leghari emphasized transparency in processing and advised applicants to report any issues. Consumers can register complaints or seek information through the helpline at 118.

Industry experts say this move will encourage further adoption of solar energy solutions in Pakistan, supporting the government’s renewable energy goals while providing clarity for households and businesses participating in net metering programs.

The federal directive marks a significant step toward facilitating clean energy integration and addressing administrative delays in the net metering sector, promoting efficiency and confidence among consumers nationwide.
