Hollywood heavyweights Leonardo DiCaprio and legendary director Martin Scorsese are set to collaborate once again, continuing one of cinema’s most successful actor-director partnerships.

The acclaimed duo has previously delivered several iconic films, including Gangs of New York, The Wolf of Wall Street and Shutter Island. Their most recent collaboration, Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), received widespread critical praise and secured ten Academy Award nominations, further cementing their creative legacy.

According to Collider, DiCaprio and Scorsese’s upcoming film, titled What Happens at Night, is scheduled to begin filming in February 2026. The project was first announced in September, with Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence confirmed to star opposite DiCaprio.

Based on Peter Cameron’s novel of the same name, the film follows a married American couple who travel to a remote, snow-covered European town to adopt a baby. Upon arriving, they check into a seemingly deserted hotel, where they encounter a series of unusual characters, including a flamboyant chanteuse, a morally corrupt businessman and a mysterious faith healer.

As the story unfolds, the couple’s journey takes a dark and psychological turn when they face unexpected obstacles in claiming their baby. The ordeal forces them to confront unsettling truths, revealing that they may know far less about themselves and the life they have built together than they once believed.

The screenplay has been penned by acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Patrick Marber. While further casting details have not yet been revealed, anticipation for the project continues to build.

Although an official release date has not been announced, What Happens at Night is expected to reach cinemas sometime in 2027 or 2028, adding another highly anticipated chapter to the DiCaprio–Scorsese partnership.
