Official data reveals that LTO Karachi, the premier revenue collection entity under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), recorded a 14% year-on-year surge, compared to Rs1.11 trillion collected during the same period of the preceding fiscal year. This exceptional feat was realized notwithstanding the disbursement of tax refunds totaling Rs64 billion, marking a 41% escalation from Rs45 billion in the corresponding timeframe last year.
The tax office demonstrated commendable performance across both direct and indirect taxation streams. Collections of direct taxes surged by 20% to Rs651 billion, up from Rs542 billion in the same period of FY25. Refunds in this category rose sharply to Rs31 billion, up 46% from Rs21 billion.
Furthermore, federal excise duty collections exhibited an impressive 31% expansion, totaling Rs100 billion compared with Rs76 billion during the same period last year.
