Karachi, October 22, 2024 – Lucky Cement Limited has successfully completed and commissioned its 28.8 MW captive wind power project at its Karachi plant, marking a major milestone in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector. The project, completed on schedule and within budget, officially began operations on October 22, 2024.
This achievement makes Lucky Cement the first company in Pakistan to implement a hybrid renewable energy project of this scale, integrating both wind and solar power sources. With the completion of this wind power plant, Lucky Cement’s total energy generation capacity for self-consumption from renewable sources has risen to 55%, demonstrating the company’s commitment to clean energy.
In addition to its new wind power project, Lucky Cement operates Pakistan’s largest solar captive plant, with a capacity of 42.8 MW, alongside a 5.1 MW reflex energy storage solution at its Pezu Plant. This combined renewable energy capacity reinforces the company’s leadership in sustainable energy initiatives within the country’s industrial sector.
