Anthony Mackie has officially confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday, one of Marvel’s most anticipated upcoming films, will not be hitting theaters in 2025.

The 46-year-old actor, best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), addressed the speculation during an interview with Screen Rant.

When asked whether Avengers: Doomsday would release this year, Mackie responded candidly, “No. Hell no. No, we are in the midst of it. I mean, it’s such a big, moving set piece, and it’s such a big story.”

Mackie’s comments indicate that filming is still underway and far from complete. He described the Marvel production process as fluid and ever-changing: “The best part of shooting a Marvel movie is that it’s always an ever-evolving canvas. There are those staple pieces, and then there are the pieces that circulate throughout the course of the shoot. So, we’re in the midst of it, but it’s going well.”

Fans hoping for an early glimpse of the next Avengers chapter will have to wait until December 18, 2026, which is the expected release date for Avengers: Doomsday.

Mackie also teased the dynamic between his Captain America and Sebastian Stan’s James ‘Bucky’ Barnes, promising fans more tension and chemistry. “I talked to Sebastian yesterday. We’re still butting heads. All we do is fight!” he joked.

The upcoming film boasts a massive ensemble cast, including:

Chris Hemsworth as Thor

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man

Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova

Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent

Lewis Pullman as Sentry

Robert Downey Jr. in a shocking return as Doctor Doom

With production still in full swing, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the MCU’s biggest blockbusters yet, but fans will need to be patient for its epic release in 2026.
