Islamabad, May 25, 2025 – A large-scale crackdown has been launched in Islamabad targeting illegal constructions and unauthorized housing.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Interior, aims to restore order to urban planning and ensure compliance with building regulations in the federal capital.
The campaign was approved during a high-level meeting held in Islamabad and chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The session was attended by top officials including Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Deputy Commissioner, DIGs, SPs, and Assistant Commissioners. Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry and the Federal Secretary Interior also participated.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to initiate an immediate and decisive operation against illegal constructions across Islamabad. The minister directed authorities to also target unapproved housing societies and take action without exception. He stressed the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy, urging officers to act firmly and consistently. To assist enforcement, Naqvi ordered the use of satellite mapping under the Land Information and Management System (LIMS) to track and prevent all forms of unauthorized developments.
The Interior Minister highlighted the importance of maintaining Islamabad’s planning integrity and urban aesthetics. He reiterated that providing top-tier civic facilities should remain a primary focus for the administration. Emphasizing public trust, he instructed officers to perform their duties with full commitment and professionalism to improve the image of law enforcement and civil administration in the capital.
“Islamabad must set the benchmark for cleanliness, safety, and proper urban development,” said Naqvi. He directed officials to take concrete steps to control prices of essential commodities and ensure cleanliness, especially ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. He called for additional efforts to maintain the city’s beauty and ensure citizen satisfaction.
The crackdown marks a renewed commitment to regulate constructions in Islamabad and protect public interest. Officials were urged to approach this mission with a sense of national responsibility, ensuring that illegal constructions are systematically removed and that future violations are effectively prevented.
