Mandy Moore has revealed how rewatching her acclaimed series This Is Us feels entirely different now that she is a parent herself. The 41-year-old actress, who portrayed Rebecca Pearson, a devoted mother of four on the beloved NBC drama, admitted that her perspective has shifted dramatically since becoming a mom in real life.
In a candid interview with People Magazine, Moore shared, “The overwhelming takeaway from the show is just being a parent now. Watching those episodes through that lens is really fascinating for me and for Chris Sullivan, because we both became parents toward the very end of the series.”
Moore reflected with amusement on the earlier seasons, admitting she often wonders how she convincingly portrayed motherhood before having children of her own. “Looking back, I think, ‘How the heck did I know what I was doing?’ I didn’t even know how to change a diaper. It’s funny to think about those early days,” she laughed.
Since This Is Us concluded, Moore’s real-life journey has been full of joy and new experiences as a mother. She now has three children with her husband, musician Taylor Goldsmith: sons August “Gus” Harrison and Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett, along with their youngest, daughter Louise “Lou” Everett.
For Moore, revisiting the show now is both nostalgic and eye-opening, offering her the chance to connect her fictional motherhood journey with her lived experience as a parent.
