KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry on Friday directed the relevant authorities to streamline business activities at Port Qasim and ensure effective implementation of its master plan to promote trade and economic growth.
The minister chaired a meeting to review Port Qasim’s business plan, operational matters and the proposed cricket ground.
Emphasising the strategic importance of port infrastructure, Chaudhry called for improved services to facilitate trade, enhance operational efficiency and support Pakistan’s economic development. He stressed that port operations should be organised more effectively to meet the requirements of businesses and facilitate the smooth movement of trade.
The meeting reviewed various aspects of the proposed business plan, with the minister directing officials to align it with national development priorities and ensure compliance with international standards.
He underscored the importance of a coherent development strategy to guide future activities at the port, improve service delivery and support sustainable economic expansion. Effective implementation of the master plan, he said, should remain a priority in efforts to strengthen the port’s role in facilitating domestic and international trade.
The proposed cricket ground was also discussed during the meeting as part of the matters relating to Port Qasim.
Chaudhry emphasised that improved port services and well-coordinated business activities could contribute to greater trade facilitation and broader economic progress. He called for the business plan to promote sustainable and inclusive growth while remaining consistent with the country’s development objectives.
The directives reflect the government’s focus on improving port management and ensuring that Port Qasim’s development plans support Pakistan’s evolving trade and economic needs.
