Kit Connor, Sadie Sink, Adam Driver and Samara Weaving join Marvel Studios’ upcoming mutant film.
Marvel Studios has officially revealed the cast and release date for its upcoming X-Men movie during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
The highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2028, with several major mutant characters now confirmed for the project.
Kit Connor has been cast as Cyclops, while Inde Navarrette will portray Rogue. Christopher Abbott is set to play Professor Xavier, with Samara Weaving taking on the role of Emma Frost.
Maya Boyd will appear as Storm, while Sadie Sink has been cast as Jean Grey, adding another major name to the film’s growing ensemble.
Adam Driver will also star in the upcoming X-Men movie as Nathaniel Milbury, a character better known in Marvel comics as the supervillain Mr. Sinister.
The film will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously helmed Marvel Studios’ 2025 movie Thunderbolts. Schreier will now oversee the X-Men’s introduction into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe as the franchise’s mutants become part of the studio’s expanding superhero universe.
Marvel announced the cast on Friday, August 14, during Disney’s presentation at D23 in Anaheim, California.
The Disney Entertainment Showcase featured announcements and previews covering upcoming films, television projects, experiences and products from across Disney’s entertainment divisions.
The upcoming X-Men film is scheduled to reach cinemas nearly two years after the D23 announcement. However, Marvel has yet to disclose major plot details, leaving much of the story and the characters’ roles in the wider MCU under wraps.
The film marks a major step in Marvel Studios’ plans to bring the X-Men into the MCU following years of anticipation among fans.
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is Disney’s biennial exposition, where the company showcases upcoming projects and celebrates its entertainment legacy. This year’s event is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center from Friday through Sunday.
