Meghan Markle stepped into familiar yet potentially tense company over the weekend as she reunited with Tyler Perry, the godfather of her daughter Princess Lilibet, at two high-profile Los Angeles events.
According to Express UK, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, and the famed filmmaker both attended the 2025 Baby2Baby Gala in West Hollywood on Saturday, November 8, before heading to Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration, a glamorous James Bond–themed party hosted at Jeff Bezos’s Beverly Hills mansion.
Although the pair were not photographed together, Meghan appeared in photos with Prince Harry, Kris Jenner, and Kim Kardashian during the festivities. The event also drew a glittering crowd, including Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, Adele, Mark Zuckerberg, Tommy Hilfiger, and Justin and Hailey Bieber.
“She was definitely in networking mode,” a source told Page Six, adding that Meghan “schmoozed with a lot of power players” and “looked cool and confident” throughout the evening.
Meghan and Perry’s friendship dates back to 2020, when he offered his Los Angeles mansion to the Sussexes after they stepped back from royal duties. Meghan previously described his generosity during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying, “It gave us breathing room to figure out what we were going to do.”
Their public reunion, however, comes as Perry faces a lawsuit from actor Derek Dixon, who has accused the filmmaker of harassment, assault, and retaliation—claims Perry has strongly denied through his legal team.
While Meghan Markle has not commented publicly, royal commentators suggest she may choose to distance herself from Perry amid the controversy. “It could be damaging to their brand because he was considered one of their closest friends,” royal expert Samara Gill told The Sun Royal Exclusive.
