Meghan Markle’s public standing in the United Kingdom has fallen to its lowest level yet, according to newly released polling data, as speculation grows about a possible return to Britain later this year.
The latest YouGov Royal Family tracker, published on January 16, shows that just 19 percent of respondents now hold a positive view of the Duchess of Sussex. This marks the weakest approval rating Meghan has recorded since YouGov began tracking public sentiment toward senior royals. Meanwhile, negative opinions have climbed sharply, with 66 percent of those surveyed expressing an unfavourable view.
The polling results come at a sensitive time, as Meghan is widely expected to travel to Birmingham this summer for an Invictus Games-related event. The visit would reportedly mark her first appearance in the UK in four years and serve as a lead-in to the 2027 Invictus Games. It remains unclear whether Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would accompany their parents.
Reaction to the survey on social media has been swift, with many users calling the findings unsurprising. Others suggested the Duchess has struggled to reconnect with the British public following her departure from royal duties.
The poll was released amid renewed legal pressures for Prince Harry. On the same day he is expected to attend court proceedings in London, his brother, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will be more than 120 miles away carrying out scheduled royal engagements.
The contrasting developments underscore the continued divide surrounding the Sussexes’ relationship with the UK and the wider Royal Family.
