Pop sensation and actress Miley Cyrus has made a bold and deeply personal statement regarding her stance on motherhood, revealing that she does not see herself becoming a parent.

Known for pushing boundaries both in music and in life, Cyrus continues to challenge societal expectations—this time around the topic of parenthood.

In a candid interview on the New York Times’ Interview podcast, Miley Cyrus addressed the often-unspoken pressure that comes with turning thirty. “There’s this thing where once you’re in your thirties, people start telling you to settle down and start a family,” she said. However, Cyrus emphasized that motherhood is not a universal path, and every woman deserves the freedom to choose whether or not to have children.

The Hannah Montana star explained that she has never felt a deep passion for motherhood. Drawing a parallel to her professional decisions, Miley Cyrus mentioned how she has also steered clear of launching a makeup line, a move that many celebrities have embraced. “My stepdad asked me the other day: ‘Why are you the only one without a makeup line?’ I was like, ‘Cause that’s not my passion,’” Cyrus shared.

She went on to say, “I feel the same way about motherhood. It’s just never been something I’ve been overly passionate about.” For Cyrus, parenting requires a level of emotional commitment and energy that she feels unprepared to give. “It’s a lot of responsibility and devotion and energy, and if you’re not passionate about that, I don’t know how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with,” she admitted.

Miley Cyrus’s honesty sheds light on a broader cultural conversation about the diverse paths women can take. In a world where societal norms often dictate personal choices, Cyrus’s perspective encourages others to reflect on their own desires without guilt or pressure.

On the professional front, Miley Cyrus continues to soar, having released her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, on May 30, 2025. With or without motherhood, Cyrus proves she is unapologetically living life on her own terms.
