Islamabad — Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari on Tuesday directed all power distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric, to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehri and Iftar in the holy month of Ramazan.
The Power Division has issued comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) to all DISCOs to ensure smooth electricity provision and facilitate consumers throughout the month. Minister Leghari instructed DISCOs to promptly address consumer complaints and mandated that CEOs establish dedicated control rooms for real-time monitoring and immediate response.
Special emphasis was placed on high-loss areas, which are part of the ongoing anti-power theft campaign. While strict action will continue against line losses, it was explicitly decided that no load-shedding would be carried out in these areas during Sehri and Iftar hours. Load management in such regions will be adjusted to non-peak timings to maintain stability and convenience for consumers.
The Power Division stated that these measures aim to prevent a backlog of recoveries and minimize system losses, while providing maximum relief to electricity consumers during Ramazan. All DISCOs have also been instructed to avoid unannounced load-shedding and ensure complete transparency in implementing scheduled power outages throughout the month.
By implementing these directives, the Ministry of Power seeks to provide a seamless and reliable electricity supply to households nationwide, allowing citizens to observe the holy month with comfort and convenience.
