ISLAMABAD: The ministry of commerce has approved Rs213 million against claims of drawback of local taxes and levies (DLTL) by non-textile sector, Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment.
“These are now with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and will soon be disbursed to the relevant exporters,” the adviser said this on his official twitter account.
“Our policy is not to put any working capital constraints for our exporters, he said.
“I hope that this will facilitate them” he added.
The approval of pending DLTL claims is expected to provide much-needed liquidity support to exporters belonging to the non-textile sector, which has been facing challenges due to rising production costs and global market uncertainties. Exporters have repeatedly urged the government for timely settlement of refunds and incentive claims to maintain competitiveness in international markets.
Industry representatives welcomed the release of funds, stating that prompt disbursement of such incentives helps businesses manage cash flow requirements and fulfill export orders efficiently. They said the government’s continued support for exporters could contribute positively toward enhancing the country’s export performance and foreign exchange earnings.
The DLTL scheme was introduced to compensate exporters for various domestic taxes and levies incurred during the manufacturing process, enabling Pakistani products to compete more effectively in global markets. Exporters also expressed hope that pending claims would continue to be cleared on a priority basis.
