Australia suffer injury setback ahead of Pakistan tour with Marsh sidelined due to ankle problem

The Australia national cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of its ODI tour of Pakistan after all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out with an ankle injury.

In Marsh’s absence, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will captain Australia during the three-match ODI series against the Pakistan national cricket team, which begins on May 30.

Marsh recently enjoyed a strong campaign in the Indian Premier League, scoring 563 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 163.18. However, Cricket Australia said the all-rounder will remain in Perth for further assessment and rehabilitation of his ankle injury.

Australia’s injury concerns have deepened ahead of the Pakistan tour, with fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc also unavailable for the series.

Following the Pakistan tour, Australia are scheduled to travel to Bangladesh for a white-ball series comprising ODIs and T20 internationals. Marsh’s availability for that series remains uncertain.
