Anchorperson Mona Alam has taken a resolute stand against the spread of indecent content falsely linked to her on social media, vowing to bring the perpetrators of this malicious act to justice.
In a post on X, Mona Alam directly addressed the issue, stating, “This woman’s objectionable video is being spread by petty haters on social media, claiming it’s me. She is a proven criminal herself, and hence I am posting her real screen grab for clarity.” Her statement highlighted her determination to defend her character and expose those behind the false claims.
Mona Alam, who hosts the widely viewed show Question Hour with Mona Alam on Hum News, shared a copy of the police complaint she filed with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime division in Islamabad. The anchorperson detailed in the complaint the attempts to malign her reputation and provided links to the social media posts disseminating the fabricated content.
This is not the first instance of such incidents targeting public figures. In the recent past, social media influencers have faced similar challenges with the emergence of artificially generated videos. In November, celebrity Mathira clarified that viral content linked to her was “fake and AI-generated.” During an interview, Mathira emphasized the importance of holding those who create and leak such fake content accountable, calling for strict actions to deter future cases.
Echoing a similar sentiment, Mona Alam asserted her resolve to take legal action against those attempting to tarnish her spotless character. She stated, “I have moved agencies; my character is spotless, and all campaigners against it will face the music.” Her strong stance reflects a growing need for social media platforms and law enforcement agencies to collaborate in combating digital harassment and cybercrime.
Mona Alam’s case has drawn attention to the broader issue of fake content targeting women and public figures, with many urging users to avoid sharing such content and report it instead. Her unwavering commitment to justice is a reminder of the need for accountability in the digital space.
