Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, August 1, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that monsoon currents have begun penetrating the upper and central regions of the country, bringing increased chances of rain and thunderstorms in the coming days.

According to the PMD, monsoon-driven rain-wind/thundershower is expected at isolated locations in Islamabad and surrounding areas on Friday, with a 55% probability. On Saturday, the weather is likely to remain hot and humid, with a 35% chance of similar rain activity in parts of the capital region.

The current synoptic situation, as explained by the PMD, indicates that a seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan. Meanwhile, monsoon currents continue to enter the upper and central regions, accompanied by a westerly wave influencing weather patterns in the northern areas.

For Friday, rain and thundershowers are expected in isolated areas of East/Northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northeastern Balochistan. Most other areas will remain under hot and humid conditions.

On Saturday, the hot and very humid weather will persist across much of the country, although areas of Northeastern Punjab, Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience more rainfall due to the ongoing monsoon activity.

Over the past 24 hours, scattered rain and thundershowers were observed in Upper KP, parts of Punjab, Kashmir, and Northeastern Balochistan. The heaviest recorded rainfall was 32mm in Dir (KP), followed by 28mm in Bahawalnagar.

According to the PMD, maximum temperatures remained high, with Dalbandin recording 44°C, followed by Nokundi at 43°C, and Chilas, Dadu, and Sibbi at 42°C.

The PMD continues to monitor monsoon developments closely and advises residents in vulnerable areas to stay updated with official forecasts.
