Motorola seems to be gearing up to expand its popular Moto G lineup with the upcoming Moto G17, as fresh evidence confirms that the smartphone is already in development.
The Moto G15, an entry-level 4G-only device, was introduced in December 2024 and released globally in February, making this a natural time for its successor to surface.
The first major confirmation of the Moto G17 comes from an FAQ page on Motorola’s official US support website. The page focuses on SIM card insertion and removal but clearly mentions the Moto G17 by name, effectively confirming the handset’s existence. Interestingly, the listing also reveals that the device will support microSD cards up to 1TB, a welcome feature for budget-conscious users who prioritize expandable storage.
The same support page also hints at the arrival of a Moto G17 Power variant. This follows Motorola’s recent strategy, as the Moto G15 and Moto G15 Power were launched side by side, catering to users who want longer battery life without moving up to a higher price segment.
Adding to the growing list of leaks, retailer listings from Italy have now revealed additional details about the Moto G17. According to these listings, the smartphone will be available in two color options: Alaskan Blue and Evening Blue. One confirmed configuration includes 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage, suggesting a notable upgrade over the Moto G15 in terms of memory and storage capacity.
At the moment, the Moto G17 is listed as “out of stock,” with no official launch date mentioned. However, given that the Moto G15 followed a similar timeline between announcement and availability, industry watchers expect the Moto G17 to launch within the next few weeks.
While Motorola has yet to officially disclose specifications such as the processor, camera setup, or battery capacity, the early appearances on support pages and retailer sites strongly indicate that the company is in the final stages of preparation.
With expandable storage support, higher RAM options, and the promise of a Power variant, the Moto G17 series could be a strong contender in the entry-level smartphone segment. More details are expected to emerge soon as Motorola moves closer to an official announcement.
