MTO Karachi asks taxpayers to file income tax returns

Hameed Memon, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue of the Medium Tax Office (MTO) in Karachi, has issued a heartfelt appeal to taxpayers, urging them to file their income tax returns as a national obligation and a service to the country.

This plea came during his visit to the office of the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) on Wednesday.

Accompanied by Commissioner Enforcement Azhar Ansari and Additional Commissioner Syed Salahuddin Gillani, Chief Commissioner Memon emphasized the importance of citizens fulfilling their tax obligations. The visit aimed to reinforce the message that timely filing of income tax returns is not just a legal requirement but a crucial aspect of contributing to the nation’s progress.

During the interaction, Commissioner Enforcement MTO Azhar Ansari highlighted that the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns is September 30, 2021, emphasizing that there will be no extension granted, as has been the practice in previous years. This stringent approach underlines the urgency and significance of adhering to the prescribed timeline.

Welcoming the FBR officers, Fayaaz Ilyas, Chairman ABAD, and other office-bearers expressed their gratitude for the efforts made by the Chief Commissioner in facilitating taxpayers in meeting their tax obligations. The ABAD chairman acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the MTO and recognized the pivotal role tax compliance plays in the nation’s economic development.

In a gesture of appreciation, the Association of Builders and Developers highlighted the proactive steps taken by the MTO in establishing a help desk at the ABAD office. This dedicated assistance desk is geared towards aiding taxpayers in the smooth and efficient filing of Income Tax Returns for the Tax Year 2021.

The collaboration between the MTO and ABAD signifies a positive stride toward creating an environment conducive to tax compliance. By offering direct support and assistance through the help desk, the MTO aims to alleviate any challenges faced by taxpayers during the filing process.

Chief Commissioner Hameed Memon reaffirmed the commitment of the MTO to facilitate taxpayers and encouraged all eligible individuals and businesses to promptly file their income tax returns.
