Islamabad, December 23, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a detailed three-day weather forecast for Murree, Pakistan’s most popular tourist destination. The forecast predicts a chilling temperature of -3°C in Murree during the next three days, offering a true winter wonderland experience for visitors.

According to the PMD, continental air is currently prevailing over most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is affecting the upper and eastern regions. This combination of weather systems is creating the cold and frosty conditions characteristic of Murree during this season.

Monday The PMD anticipates mainly cold and dry weather across much of Pakistan, with particularly frigid conditions in hilly areas. In Murree, the temperature is expected to remain at -3°C. Partly cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain or snowfall is predicted in isolated locations, including Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and parts of eastern Punjab. Smog and fog patches may also occur in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during nighttime hours.

Tuesday The cold and dry trend is expected to persist, with the temperature in Murree remaining around -3°C. Morning and nighttime conditions will be particularly cold in hilly regions. Partly cloudy weather may bring light rain or snowfall to Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the morning. Smog and fog patches are likely to reappear in the plains during the early and late hours.

Past 24 Hours Over the past day, cold and dry weather dominated most parts of the country, with extremely cold conditions in hilly areas such as Murree. Light rain and drizzle were recorded at a few spots in eastern Punjab, while smog and fog persisted in pockets across the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh during the night and morning.

Today’s Coldest Temperatures The PMD’s data highlights some of the coldest areas, with Leh reaching -09°C, Skardu at -08°C, and Murree recording -3°C. Other areas like Quetta, Gilgit, and Kalam also reported significantly low temperatures, further emphasizing the widespread chill.
