As Pakistan’s National Assembly continues its proceedings, plans for the upcoming budget session for the fiscal year 2024-25 are taking shape, with discussions slated to begin on June 6th, 2024.

The decision to schedule the budget session and address the motion of thanks was made during a meeting chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, attended by Chief Whips of various political parties in the National Assembly. The meeting, held on Monday, focused on crucial aspects such as the formation of Standing Committees and the Finance Committee, allocation of time for the motion of thanks, and proposals pertinent to the forthcoming budget session.
In a unanimous agreement, it was determined that the current session of the National Assembly would persist until May 17th, 2024. Furthermore, specific timings for speeches related to the motion of thanks for the Presidential address were established.
Key figures including Deputy Speaker National Assembly Ghulam Mustafa, Chief Whip Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and several Members of the National Assembly participated in the meeting. Among them were Ijaz Jakhrani, Malik Amir Dogar, Aminul Haq, Noor Alam, Gul Asghar, Riaz Fatyana, Khalid Hussain, and Bilal Kayani, reflecting a broad representation across party lines.
