Pakistan Floods

Islamabad, August 3, 2025 – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a grim update on the devastation caused by ongoing flash floods and heavy monsoon rains across Pakistan, reporting 299 confirmed deaths and 715 injuries since June 26.

The tragedy has particularly impacted vulnerable communities, with 140 children among the deceased and 239 among the injured.

According to the NDMA, the floods have wreaked havoc across several regions, displacing thousands and destroying homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Of the 1,676 houses reported damaged, 562 were completely destroyed while 1,114 were partially affected. In addition, the loss of 428 livestock has further deepened the economic blow for flood-hit families already struggling to recover.

The NDMA has remained at the forefront of emergency response efforts, conducting 223 rescue operations that successfully evacuated 2,880 people from flood-prone areas. In collaboration with provincial and federal agencies, the authority continues to lead coordinated relief operations aimed at mitigating the impact of the floods.

To support affected families, the NDMA has distributed over 13,400 essential relief items, including tents, food packs, hygiene kits, blankets, and de-watering pumps. Medical support has also been mobilized, with 71 camps established and 577 people treated so far for flood-related health issues.

As the monsoon season continues, the NDMA warns that the risk of further floods remains high in vulnerable regions. The agency is closely monitoring the evolving situation and urges residents in at-risk areas to stay alert and follow official guidance.
