Islamabad, June 27, 2025 – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a high alert warning for widespread rains expected to affect many parts of the country in the next 12 to 24 hours.
The NDMA has urged Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), district administrations, and all concerned departments to stay alert and fully activate emergency response plans. According to the NDMA, these rains could be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, creating dangerous conditions in several regions.
The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the NDMA has also issued an impact-based weather advisory. It warned the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains, stay away from electric poles, weak structures, and closely follow instructions from local authorities. People are encouraged to prepare in advance and stay indoors during severe weather.
In Sindh, heavy rains are expected in many districts such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Nawabshah, Mirpur Khas, Thatta, Badin, and Tharparkar. These rains could lead to urban flooding and water accumulation on roads, especially in low-lying areas.
Punjab is also likely to see significant rainfall in cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Murree. The federal capital, Islamabad, is also in the forecast zone. The downpours may cause localized flooding, disrupt transport, and interrupt daily life.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, areas such as Chitral, Swat, Dir, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Kohat, and Bannu may experience intense rains and thunderstorms. There is a high risk of flash floods in streams and rivers, especially in mountainous regions, where landslides may also occur.
The NDMA has emphasized the importance of staying informed. Citizens are advised to download the “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” mobile app to get timely updates, safety tips, and emergency guidance.
As the monsoon system strengthens, NDMA remains actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with all stakeholders to reduce risks. People are urged to take the weather warnings seriously and stay safe during this spell of widespread rains.
