Netflix’s Wednesday returns with more Addams Family twists

Netflix’s smash-hit series Wednesday is officially back, expanding the quirky and gothic world of the Addams Family nearly three years after its 2022 debut.

Season Two premiered in style on a real-life Wednesday at London’s Westminster, where cast and creators walked a purple carpet outside Central Hall and the Queen Elizabeth II Centre.

The much-anticipated new season is being released in two parts: Part One lands on Wednesday, August 6, while Part Two will arrive on September 3. Fans of Wednesday Addams, played once again by Jenna Ortega, can expect more supernatural puzzles, family chaos, and psychic surprises.

This season, Wednesday returns to Nevermore Academy—reluctantly hailed as a hero. Despite her status, she’s immediately pulled into fresh mysteries and struggles with her unpredictable psychic powers. Adding to the drama, her younger brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) joins Nevermore, and the entire Addams family becomes more involved in school life.

“She’s under more pressure this season and really thrown off balance,” Ortega said, noting how the storyline tests Wednesday like never before. Ortega also stepped into an executive producer role, which she said gave her “freedom, not control.”

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar promised that Season Two brings even more of the Addams clan to the forefront, introducing new characters like Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley) and Principal Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi). Pop icon Lady Gaga also makes a surprise guest appearance.

At its core, the season explores mother-daughter bonds and themes of sisterhood. “It’s about three generations of Addams women,” said Millar. “And for Wednesday, it’s about learning to let go.”
