Two senior all-rounders have missed out on selection as the Netherlands continue their build-up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next year.
The Dutch cricket board has confirmed a 15-member squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which will be played away from home.
This series holds major significance for the Netherlands as they prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The Netherlands booked their place in the global event after topping the points table at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Regional Final 2025 earlier this year. Selectors have largely retained the same group that lifted the regional trophy on home soil in July.
However, seasoned all-rounders Bas de Leede and Roelof van der Merwe will not be part of the squad, as both players remain unavailable. In their absence, recalls have been handed to Vikramjit Singh, Shariz Ahmed, Ben Fletcher, Fred Klaassen, and Tim Pringle for the series in Sylhet, beginning on August 30.
Among them, Vikramjit, Klaassen, and Pringle already have T20 World Cup experience, having represented the Netherlands at the most recent edition staged in the USA and West Indies last year.
They will be looking to strengthen their case for next year’s mega event, while leg-spinner Shariz and left-arm pacer Fletcher are also expected to gain more exposure.
Wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards will continue to lead the side, with power-hitter Max O’Dowd seen as one of the key batting assets for the Dutch.
Netherlands squad: Scott Edwards (c), Shariz Ahmad, Noah Croes, Daniel Doram, Aryan Dutt, Ben Fletcher, Fred Klaassen, Kyle Klein, Ryan Klein, Teja Nidamanuru, Max O’Dowd, Tim Pringle, Vikram Singh, Paul van Meekeren, Saqib Zulfiqar.
