Islamabad, September 1, 2025 – The Government of Pakistan has announced revised petroleum prices for the next 15 days, starting from midnight on September 1, 2025.
The latest review was carried out by the Ministry of Finance in consultation with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to reflect international market trends and domestic economic needs.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been kept unchanged, while the rate of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs3 per litre. Additionally, Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) has seen a price cut of Rs1.46 per litre, and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) has been lowered by Rs2.4 per litre. The new petroleum prices are as follows: high-speed diesel at Rs269.99 per litre, kerosene at Rs176.81 per litre, and light diesel at Rs159.76 per litre.
Petrol is a primary fuel for motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars, making adjustments in petroleum prices a matter of concern for middle- and lower-income groups who rely on it for daily commuting. Diesel, on the other hand, plays a critical role in the transportation and agriculture sectors, powering trucks, buses, trains, and farming equipment like tractors and tube wells.
Economists warn that changes in petroleum prices, especially diesel, have a direct impact on inflation by influencing the cost of transporting vegetables, grains, and other essential commodities to markets across the country.
