New Zealand vs. South Africa Clash Shapes World Cup Semi-finals

New Zealand and South Africa are set to face off at MCA International Stadium, Pune on Wednesday, November 01. A victory here could practically secure one team’s spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-finals, while the other could be vulnerable to competition from the chasing pack.

These two formidable teams, currently occupying the second and third positions in the standings, are on a collision course for a potential semi-final rematch.

However, with plenty of cricket left before the semi-finals, this match is a crucial determinant for the top four positions, bringing the winner closer to the knockout stages.

Interestingly, New Zealand and South Africa haven’t crossed paths in an ODI since the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales, where the Kiwis emerged triumphant in a thrilling match led by skipper Kane Williamson’s magnificent century.

While Williamson is in contention to return from a thumb injury, the news isn’t as optimistic for Lockie Ferguson, who is likely to be sidelined due to an Achilles concern, and Mark Chapman remains doubtful with a calf issue.

On the South African side, there are no fresh injury concerns, but the right-arm quick Kagiso Rabada will be closely monitored due to a recent back problem that saw him miss their match against Pakistan.
