Nicolas Cage is set to make his debut in a leading TV role with the upcoming series Spider-Noir, premiering May 27 on Prime Video, Sony announced. The show reimagines the iconic Spider-Man story, placing it in New York City during the Great Depression.
In the teaser trailer released Thursday, Cage portrays Ben Reilly, a private investigator who navigates his past following a personal tragedy while showcasing impressive web-slinging skills. The series also stars Lamorne Morris of New Girl fame and Li Jun Li, known for her role in the Oscar-nominated film Sinners.
Fans can watch Spider-Noir in either “authentic black & white” or “true hue full color,” depending on viewer preference. This live-action adaptation follows Cage’s previous voice work as Spider-Noir in the 2018 Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which explored multiple Spider-people across different universes.
Spider-Noir marks the first live-action entry from the Spider-Verse franchise and represents Amazon’s latest venture into Marvel content.
In related news, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Netflix reached a multi-year deal in January, allowing films like Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to stream exclusively on Netflix following their theatrical and video-on-demand releases for 18 months, after which they will transition to Disney platforms.
With Cage’s first leading TV role and the innovative Spider-Verse concept, Spider-Noir is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated superhero series of 2026.
